This video shows how to create a storage-elevation-surface area curve for a basin. To run this, you must have a grid with a dam merged into it. Once the command has completed there will be a new CSV file in the working directory with the storage-elevation-surface area data in it.
Note that the surface area is the Plan View surface area.
Commands used:
- Grid/Volumes/Create basin peels.
Troubleshooting:
Sometimes, if the maximum elevation of the storage curve is equal to the crest elevation of the dam, its possible that some area outside the dam can be included. There is a layer added to the 3D window called internal pond surface. This shows the surface that was used for the volume calculations. If you get odd results then this surface will show why.
The easiest way to fix an issue where some outside area is included is to reduce the maximum pond elevation to below the crest elevation.
